The Billy Brings his Buddies program is a Kids in the Know initiative developed by the Canadian Centre for Child Protection to encourage personal safety discussions in classrooms and at home.
The Canadian Centre for Child Protection is a charitable organization dedicated to the personal safety of all children. Our goal is to reduce child victimization by providing programs and services to Canadians. Kids in the Know is the Canadian Centre’s national interactive safety education program for increasing the personal safety of children and reducing their risk of victimization online and in the real world. Designed for children from Kindergarten to High School, the program focuses on building self-esteem through teaching critical problem-solving skills. The Kids in the Know program is used in thousands of schools across Canada.
Research suggests that when safety education becomes an integrated part of a child’s life, personal safety strategies are more likely to be used and successful.
As a community, it is our shared responsibility to safeguard children and teach them skills that will help keep them safe. Safety education helps build children’s confidence and critical thinking skills, and helps prepare them for potentially dangerous situations should they arise.
